TBAYS Girls Soccer Program gets Scholarship Boost from Dave’s Garage

Traverse City, Mich. – To help celebrate the second straight win for the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team in the World Cup, Dave’s Garage today announced a new TBAYS scholarship program to help grow the opportunity for Northern Michigan Girl’s to play the sport.

Starting this fall, Dave’s Garage has committed money to help fund scholarships to encourage more young females to play soccer. “Traverse Bay Area Youth Soccer (TBAYS) is excited to partner with Dave’s Garage,” says TBAYS Girl Director, Taylor Vancil. “Soccer captures young hearts shortly after learning to walk. The sport offers success after the first kick of the ball. As children grow, the game becomes an opportunity to build gross motor skills, grow confidence among peers and for many is their first building block to teamwork”.

The owners of Dave’s Garage, Craig Olvey and Jamie Laferriere are no strangers to the impact of youth recreational sports. Both have been coaches and had their own children participate in many youth sports programs. “Soccer is a great sport”, says Olvey. “It helps to instill positive morals and ethics that can last a lifetime. It will help them both on and off the field.”
